08 JulSpring Clean Your Spirit

While you’re cleaning out closets and sweeping under the furniture, think about this: Spring cleaning, while worth the effort, will only last for a season, but spiritual cleansing could have an eternal influence. So don’t just dust behind those book shelves, dust off that favorite Bible and get ready for a spiritual spring cleaning.
1) Cleanse Your Heart – Get Spiritually Healthy:

The Bible encourages us to draw close to God and allow our hearts and bodies to be cleansed. This is the first step in our spring cleaning project. We can’t clean ourselves. Instead we must draw near to God and ask Him to do the cleansing.

    Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
    Hebrews 10:22
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
2) Clean Out Your Mouth – Deep Clean Inside and Out:

Spiritual cleansing requires deep cleaning — it is housekeeping that goes beyond what others see and hear. It’s a cleansing from within — inside and out. As your heart gets clean, your language should follow. This is not just talking about bad language, but also negative talk and pessimistic thoughts that contradict the Word of God and faith. This includes the challenge to stop complaining.

    Luke 6:45
The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.
    Philippians 2:14
Do everything without complaining or arguing…
3) Renew Your Mind – Take Out the Garbage:

This is one of the biggest areas of struggle for most of us — removing the garbage from our minds. Garbage in equals garbage out. We must feed our minds and spirits the Word of God instead of the garbage of this world.

    Romans 12:2
Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
    2 Corinthians 10:5
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
4) Repent from Hidden Sin – Clean Out Your Spiritual Closets:

Hidden sin will destroy your life, your peace, and even your health. The Bible says to confess your sin – tell someone, and reach out for help. When your spiritual closets are clean, the heaviness from hidden sin will lift.

    Psalm 32:3-5
When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD”—and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
5) Release Unforgiveness and Bitterness – Get Rid of Old Baggage:

Any sin will weigh you down, but long kept unforgiveness and bitterness is like old baggage in the attic you just can’t seem to part with. You are so familiar with it, you don’t even realize how it is hindering your life.

    Hebrews 12:1
Therefore … let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress…
    Ephesians 4:31-32
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
6) Involve Jesus in Your Daily Life – Let the Son Shine In:

What God wants most from you is relationship – friendship. He wants to be involved in the big and small moments of your life. Open your life, let the light of God’s presence shine into every part, and you’ll have no need for a yearly spiritual cleaning. Instead experience daily, moment to moment refreshing of your spirit.

    1 Corinthians 1:9
God … is the one who invited you into this wonderful friendship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
    Psalm 56:13
For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So now I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light
7) Learn to Laugh at Yourself and at Life:

Some of us take life too seriously, or we take ourselves too seriously. Jesus wants you to enjoy yourself, and learn to have some fun. God made you for His pleasure!

    Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song.
    Psalm 126:2
Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

07 JulThrough the eyes of a child

While walking through the park with my baby girl the other day, she stopped abruptly.  Me, being in a haste to get through seemly another ordinary workout said to her angrily, what’s wrong?  Why did you stop?  We have quite a ways to go to finish.  She replied, look Mommy!  Look how beautiful this is!  When I turned in her direction I saw THE most beautiful sunset.  In an instant my thoughts of “finishing” this workout within a set time vanished.  What was important was the here and now.  This moment with my baby girl.  We spent the rest of the afternoon just basking in the beauty of God’s creation.

01 JulSisterfriend Prayer

Dear God, this prayer is for my sisterfriends whom I love dearly.  Help them  live their lives to the fullest.  Please promote them and cause them to excel beyond their expectations.  Help them to shine in the darkest places where it seems impossible to love.  Protect them at all times, lift them up when they need you the most and let them know when they walk with you, they will always be safe.

18 JunNo regrets

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.   So love the people who treat you  right. Forget about the one’s who don’t.

Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands.  If it changes your life, let it.  Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

18 JunThe Beatitudes

Following the beatitudes means making the choice to put God before everything else. They are simply stated, but are profound in meaning. They guide. They point. They teach. They show us the values that Christ cares about. These values if followed, can not only bring a believer into a state of peace and happiness, but also right into the Kingdom of God after our journey on this earth is over.

The Latin word for blessed is beatus, from which we get the word beatitude.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
–Depend on God. Don’t let material things get in the way of loving God and others.

Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
–Share other people’s sorrows and joys. Don’t sent yourself apart from others.

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
–Learn to be gentle with people and things. Don’t try to get your way by violence or bullying.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
–Work hard to make sure that all people are treated justly. Do what you can to change unjust conditions.

Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
–Forgive others and ask their forgiveness. Let compassion, not anger, rule your life.

Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
–Turn your attention only toward what is good and right. Be faithful to God and God’s ways.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
–Work to bring people together. Don’t contribute to quarrels and fights. Look for ways to solve problems peacefully.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
–In difficult times, keep trusting in God and standing up for what is right.

18 JunHappiness – You Owe It To Yourself

Image created by by Mark A. Hicks, illustrator.

Sometimes we stop to second guess our reasons for why we let certain things or people effect our lives the way they do.  We try to tell ourselves we can’t let this happen, but why not? What’s wrong with people  having the feeling of enjoyment from something or someone who brings them happiness?  It can sometimes feel too good to be true.

We need to accept that there’s nothing wrong with our heart telling our mind that it’s alright to be happy.  Don’t let minor things get in the way of your happiness.  We never know when it’s our time to be sad!  So take advantage of the things that bring you joy while you can.

18 JunLeft Unanswered

Just when you think you have a clue as to what your life or life itself is all about you then realize that you are no closer to the answers than when you were born.  This is our sturggle as we try to piece toghether the puzzle of life.  Life was not meant to be solved, but to be lived to the best of what life has given you.  We worry about the things we cannot control and therefore we let valuealbe time slip away forgetting whats really important inside oneself.  But its up to the person to undertand why he or she is special and to sare with others.  We owe it to ourself.  Maybe then we  will be closer to finding out some of the answers to life’s questions.  Done ever stop asking.

05 JunSomething good is going to happen

To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.  When God takes something from your grasp, He’s not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better.  The will of God will never take you where the grace of God will not protect you.

Something good will happen to you today; something that you have been waiting to hear.  Please Do not break! Keep the faith and pray these 27 powerful words:

God our father, walk through my house take away all my worries and illnesses.  Please watch over and heal my family in Jesus name.

Amen
